Jacqueline Johnson

JJ Attic, Yonkers, New York

Jacqueline Johnson, principal at JJ Attic, started her career as an elementary school teacher. But then she bought a loom and fell so in love with weaving that she returned to school in her mid-20s, attending the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

Right out of school, she was excited to find work for a company in Manhattan that designed draperies and upholstery fabrics used in high-end homes, hotels, and businesses. But most of the fabrics she designed were milled in Europe.
