When I read Maria’s story, the thing that stood out the most to me was that this piece would be something sentimental—that all of her accomplishments in life should be incorporated in it. Since I envisioned it as an heirloom, I immediately thought of creating a pendant. The mabe pearl is fairly large, and while you could put it on a bracelet, I feel like it would be more likely to be hit or damaged while on her wrist. For a piece that you want to last, a necklace is a safe bet.
