MJSA 2023 Design Challenge: Responsibly Sourced Designs
Congratulations to Stephanie Maslow Blackman of Metalicious in New York City, the winner of MJSA’s 2023 “A Second Chapter” Responsibly Sourced Design Challenge! Click here to read more about Stephanie's design.
Held annually, the design competition asked nine designers to create a jewelry piece using a collection of responsibly sourced gemstones from the project’s sponsor, Columbia Gem House in Vancouver, Washington. The fictional scenario posed to this year’s designers featured Tracy, a recently divorced mother of two starting life anew. The participating designers were tasked with designing pieces using responsibly sourced gemstones provided by her daughters, who wanted to gift their mom jewelry to celebrate her embracing this second chapter of her life. Over the course of this year, we posted a different designer’s vision here online, along with the story about it.
