MJSA Responsible Design Challenge: Honoring One's Heritage
Entry 5: Dominique Larson
As a designer, I listen to the story my client is telling, and I consider what the commissioned piece should convey to reflect that story. This project was intended to be something that my clients’ daughter, Haseya, would regularly wear, and that captured the sentimentality of her story and her home. Initially I considered designing a brooch, but brooches tend to be placed on jackets and sweaters that are taken on and off. Instead, I proposed a necklace that Haseya could wear regularly, whether she was going to work, traveling, or attending a concert.
