AVA Design Competition Deadline Extended
PROVIDENCE, RI-- Due to rising interest among designers across
the country, Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America
(MJSA) has extended its deadline for the American Vision Awards
(AVA) Design Competition. Professional entries must be received
by February 11, 2004, while student entries are due on April
9, 2004.
In addition, two of the industry's most renowned designers
were recently named judges for the competition: Michael Bondanza,
president of Michael Bondanza Inc. in New York City, and Steven
Kretchmer, president of Steven Kretchmer Design in Palenville,
New York.
Now in its 13th year, the AVA competition recognizes designers
whose work influences the future of the jewelry industry. Entries
in either the professional or student categories are judged
on creativity, originality, presentation quality, effective
use of materials, and perceived manufacturing and marketing
potential.
Professional entries are also eligible for three special material
categories: Platinum Distinction, sponsored by Platinum Guild
International; Gold Distinction, sponsored by the World Gold
Council; and Crystal Distinction, sponsored by Swarovski.
First- and second-place winners in all five categories receive
cash awards of up to $1,000, as well as recognition in MJSA
news releases and newsletters, in AJM Magazine, on MJSA Online,
and in leading industry publications. All winning entries in
the professional category will be on display for thousands
of buyers and exhibitors at MJSA's Expo New York, the nation's
largest trade show devoted to jewelry manufacturing, held Feb.
29 to March 2 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New
York City.
