MJSA to Celebrate 100 Years at the Centennial Kick-off Gala

Providence, RI––On Saturday, March 1––the eve of Expo New York––MJSA will celebrate its 100th anniversary at the MJSA Centennial Kick-off Gala. At the event, MJSA members, colleagues, and guests will enjoy fine cuisine and dance the night away to live entertainment at the newly re-opened Cobacabana nightclub.

“ We wanted to bring the industry together for a true celebration with top-notch entertainment and unbeatable food,” said James Marquart, MJSA president/CEO. “But we also wanted to take this opportunity to rally the support of our members for the association and our industry’s charity, the Jewelers Charity Fund [JCF].”

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go toward the JCF, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary. The Gala will include a silent auction benefiting JCF and its recipient charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation-Glaser Pediatric Research Network.

JCF will receive additional support through the MJSA Tribute Book, which will commemorate the association’s 100-year anniversary. This book, which will be distributed to Gala attendees, will highlight MJSA’s century of service with a brief history of the association, a photo collage of the past century, and sponsor tributes. It will be available throughout MJSA’s centennial year at the MJSA booth at industry trade shows, at MJSA’s 100th Annual Meeting in November, and at MJSA headquarters. Sponsorship opportunities range from Platinum Premier level ($20,000) to Bronze Level ($1,000), and include recognition in MJSA’s publications and on its Web site.

“ MJSA members and industry organizations have a unique opportunity through Tribute Book sponsorship to show their support for MJSA, the jewelry industry, and, most of all, the needy children that benefit from JCF’s efforts,” Marquart said.

The MJSA Centennial Kick-off Gala is just one of the ways MJSA is celebrating its 100th year. In January, MJSA launched a brand identity campaign with a new logo and color scheme for all of its printed products. In addition, the new MJSA Online Web site will be unveiled in late February, improved for easy navigability and access to more information. Also, AJM Magazine is celebrating MJSA’s centennial by taking a decade by decade look at jewelry manufacturing, and MJSA’s activities, as the industry developed. (The first installment appeared in January.) And in November MJSA will celebrate with its 100th Annual Meeting.

“ In the 100 years of service MJSA has dedicated to the jewelry industry, the association has had amazing experiences,” Marquart said. “We look forward to reflecting on the memories, and making new ones, in the year to come.”
