MJSA Education Foundation Appoints New Trustees
Providence, Rhode Island - The Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers
of America (MJSA) Education Foundation has announced the appointment
of four new trustees: Howard Pomerantz of GIA Gem Instruments
in Newport Beach, California; Peter Fuller of North Attleboro,
Massachusetts-based Fuller Box Co.; Harold Gadon, formerly of
Providence Metallizing in Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and Michael
Coan of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
All were appointed during a foundation meeting at MJSA’s
Providence headquarters on November 14.
MJSA Education Foundation Chair Howard Schachter welcomed the
new trustees during the meeting. “I feel each of the incoming
trustees will make an invaluable contribution to the well being
of the foundation,” he said. “They are very solid
workers, and each brings disciplines and skills very important
to the future of MJSA.”
All four members bring to the foundation a diverse background
in the jewelry industry. Pomerantz, formerly of KerrLab in Orange,
California, currently serves as executive director of GIA Gem
Instuments. He is a member of MJSA’s Board of Directors
and co-chairman of the 2003 Expo New York Education Committee.
Fuller, president of Fuller Box Co., is a past chairman of the
MJSA Board of Directors. Harold Gadon, a longtime MJSA member,
is the past president of Providence Metallizing. Coan is the
jewelry department chair at the Fashion Institute of Technology,
which is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
Each of the four trustees will serve three-year terms.
Schacter also recognized the valuable contributions of four
outgoing trustees: Michael Salvadore Sr. of Salvadore Machinery
Corp., Providence; Eddie Bell of Rio Grande, Albuquerque, New
Mexico; Michael Toback of Myron Toback Inc., New York City; and
Roger Gesswein of Paul Gesswein Inc., Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Trustees serve as ambassadors for the foundation by working
on the development of curriculum, supporting the annual golf
tournament, and providing expertise in reviewing MJSA scholarship
applications. For more information about the MJSA Education Foundation,
