MJSA Calls for Entries in 2002 Education Foundation Scholarship Awards

Providence, RI-Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) is accepting entries and applications for its 2002 Education Foundation Jewelry Scholarship. Students enrolled in design, metals fabrication, tool making, or other jewelry-related courses of study at colleges, universities, or not-for-profit technical schools can apply for awards ranging from $500 to $2,000. Last year, seven students were awarded a total of $6,500 in scholarship.

Applicants submit slides of finished jewelry pieces they have created, and are judged by a committee of industry professionals on the basis of their work, along with course of study, career objectives, financial need, industry experience, academic achievement, and recommendations. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years, provided the student maintains good academic standing.

The MJSA Education Foundation funds the development of programs that attract, educate, and retain a globally competitive workforce. Since 1979, MJSA and its affiliated agencies have provided students with more than $85,000 in award money.

For information on applying for an MJSA Education Foundation Scholarship, call MJSA's director of education, Mary Walek, at 1-800-444-6572, ext. 3041, or visit the MJSA College Fund page.
