ASAE Honors AJM Magazine

Providence, RI-AJM Magazine, the monthly trade magazine published by Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA), recently won three awards—including its third consecutive first-place trophy for Educational Articles—in the annual Gold Circle Awards competition, sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives.

The trophy was awarded for "Big E, little e," a case study that appeared in the March 2001 issue. Written by Staff Writer John Shanahan, it looked at how two companies—one large, one small—took different paths in the development of their Web sites. It was Shanahan's second Gold Circle award; his "Net Profits," an examination of how to get started in e-commerce, won top honors in the 2000 competition.

In addition, Editor Tina Wojtkielo's "Design Inc." received a certificate of excellence in the Educational Articles category. Wojtkielo's article, which appeared in the magazine's February 2001 issue, gave jewelry designers a step-by-step lesson on creating a business plan.

In addition, in the category for magazines among associations nationwide, AJM received honorable mention.

"As AJM articles continue to win awards in these cross-industry competitions, it truly points out the value of the magazine as one of MJSA's member benefits, and the value MJSA is bringing to the jewelry community as a whole," said MJSA President/CEO James F. Marquart.

The Gold Circle Awards recognize excellence and innovation in association management. The competition is spread across 54 categories in 14 disciplines, ranging from professional development and marketing to technology and component relations.
