2012 Platinum Distinction Winners
Platinum has, over time, become a symbol of achievement and prestige. This year’s winning entries in the Platinum Distinction category show that prestige, style, and creativity can, in combination, produce memorable jewelry designs that are true works of art.

1st Place Winner
Brian Sholdt, SHOLDT, Seattle, Washington
Platinum Ring. This 90/10 platinum-iridium ring weight 6.37 dwt, with a top diameter of 15 mm. It was cast from a model with a milled surface, allowing the jeweler to finish with hand millgraining. (Sholdt call this a “Fern Finish.”) The 23 diamonds are VS-F quality and weigh a total of 0.30 carats.
2nd Place Winner

"Manta Ray" Brooch. This platinum and black onyx brooch contains 0.29 tcw emerald cabochons, 0.108 tcw fancy yellow diamonds, and 1.753 tcw white diamonds.
