MJSA Education FoundationClick Here for a List of the Education Foundation Board of Trustees A 501(c) (3) non-profit, the MJSA Education Foundation develops and supports programs that attract, educate, and retain a globally competitive workforce. Among its accomplishments:
• The Foundation sponsored the development of the MJSA Jewelry Academy, which offers curriculum-based skills training. General courses take place nationwide at leading colleges and industry trade shows. Companies can also request customized training programs that can be conducted either at their own facilities or at MJSA Headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island. • The MJSA Safety Compliance Outreach Program was implemented in 2001 to help Los Angeles jewelry manufacturers comply with revised code and safety guidelines. The MJSA Education Foundation offered free informational meetings, sponsored a trade show exhibit to showcase code-compliant equipment, and provided safe shop information. The Foundation also produced Compliance Solutions, a 77-page safety manual for California-based companies, as well as the general Safety Solutions manual. These publications were funded in part by grants from the JCK Jewelry Industry Fund. To order either of these volumes, click here.
• Since 1997, the MJSA Education Foundation has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to students studying jewelry design, manufacturing, tool making, and other areas of the industry. Scholarship applications are available in January and are due in May. Awards are announced in July.
