Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) is introducing a new package of benefits for its members interested in capitalizing on the growing custom design movement in America’s jewelry stores. The launch of MJSA’s Custom Design Advantage program coincides with the debut of a new publication, MJSA Custom Design, at the JCK Show in Las Vegas.
MJSA Custom Design will present current design trends and demonstrate how custom jewelers are incorporating them into their creations. It will also include information about new CAD/CAM technologies, countertop custom-design systems for retail stores, and marketing and selling strategies related to customized jewelry. The quarterly publication will be sent to all members free of charge.
In addition to receiving the new magazine, MJSA members also will be able to send specific custom design queries to MJSA, which the staff will research with the help of its newly formed MJSA Custom Design Advisory Council. The Council members are some of America’s most renowned jeweler-designers and technical analysts: Steve Adler, A3DM; Gary Dawson, Goldworks Jewelry Art Studio; Lisa Krikawa, Krikawa Jewelry Designs; Lee Krombholz, Just Like You Designs; Mark Maxwell, Mark Maxwell Designer/Goldsmith LLC; Mark Schneider, Schneider Designs; Greg Stopka, Jewelsmiths; and Jim Tuttle, Green Lake Jewelry Works.
Starting in August 2010, MJSA members also will be able to take advantage of a members-only Custom Design Knowledge Center at MJSA Online (mjsa.org), where articles, videos, and other downloads about CAD/CAM, design, and marketing strategies will reside. The Center will also feature a listing of MJSA member contractors and suppliers interested in doing more work with custom design and manufacturing retail shops. Listings will include such information as minimum order requirements and private-label capabilities.
"Custom design is one of the key trends of the post-recession industry-and MJSA looks forward to supporting our members who are working in this exciting and creative area," says David W. Cochran, MJSA president and CEO. "From retailers and designers to manufacturers and contract service providers, our membership covers the spectrum of those who are capitalizing on this movement. Our Custom Design Advantage program will offer them the information, inspiration, networking, and resources they need to ensure success."
